LA Danza de la Pluma - New Mexico
As part of Metamorfosis Documentation Project's mission of presenting the results of our work to a wider public, so they can "experience an inside look at cultures and community rituals markedly different from their own"; and as an effort to "foster respect and support for all cultures", this third component to the project was developed. It consisted of lectures, radio interviews, film screenings, art installations and four live presentations of the "Danza de la Pluma" in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Socorro. In 2008 Metamorfosis Documentation Project participated in the Santa Fe Art Institute's "OUTSIDER: Tourism, Migration, Exile" 2008 Lectures and Workshops. The lecture focused on the history and processes of Metamorfosis Documentation Project and specifically on the La Danza de la Pluma Project. Our documentary film "La Danza de la Pluma; Fe, Sacrificio y Tradicion" was also screened, followed by a discussion of the project and the film. In a related event at the Santa Fe Art Institute, from October 4 – 31 of 2008, Metamrfosis Documentation Project presented their art installation "Tradition: apparent paradox" as part of the exhibition "Outsider: El Otro".As part of the event Armando Espinosa and Craig Johnson were interviewed by Mary-Charlotte Domandi on the RadioCafe program on KSFR radio station in Santa Fe.

For the conclusion of the project, in July 2009, MDP brought El Grupo de Promesa 2007 -2009 from Teotitlán del Valle to New Mexico to present La Danza de la Pluma at three state museums and a local neighborhood venue. El Grupo de Promesa presented La Danza de la Pluma in two venues in Santa Fe: at El Rancho de las Golondrinas, a living history museum, and at Tierra Contenta, a growing community with a strong Mexican immigrant component. A screening of the movie "La Danza de la Pluma; Fe, Sacrificio y Tradicion" was part of the program at both venues. In Alburquerque the group presented the Dance at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. "La Danza de la Pluma; Fe, Sacrificio y Tradicion" was also screened at the event. In Socorro the group presented the Dance at El Camino Real International Heritage Center. Here, MDP also presented a lecture on the history of the conquest dances and comparison of La Danza de la Pluma and the Matachin Dances and screened "La Danza de la Pluma; Fe, Sacrificio y Tradicion". As part of the these presentations Armando Espinosa and Craig Johnson were interviewed by Mary-Charlotte Domandi on the RadioCafe program on KSFR radio station.
